🏁 Free shipping on any set of 4 — or any order over $500

Shipping Policy

Last updated: August 20, 2026

How shipping is priced, when it is free, when your order leaves, how long it takes, and what happens if something goes wrong in transit.

When the whole order ships free

Two things make an entire order ship free, whatever else is in it:

  • 4 or more tires and/or wheels in total. They can be mixed, so two tires plus two wheels is still a set of 4, and any parts in the same order ride along free.
  • an order total of $500 or more after any discount is applied. The discount comes off first, then the threshold is checked, so a $500 order with a promo code applied may fall below it.

There is a third free-shipping rule that applies to parts only: parts and accessories totalling $150 or more ship free. It clears the parts charge, but it does not clear a tire or wheel charge in the same order. See "mixed orders" below, because this is the one that surprises people.

Tires and wheels

Tires and wheels are bulky and are priced per unit. They count together toward the free set:

  • 1 tire or wheel: $29.95
  • 2: $54.95
  • 3: $74.95
  • 4 or more: free

Parts and accessories

Parts are charged once per order rather than per item, because they travel together in one parcel. The rate is set by the most demanding item in the order, not by adding the items up:

  • small, low-cost hardware priced at $15 or less, such as valves, sensors and clips: $5.95
  • standard parts: $9.95
  • heavy or bulky goods, such as cases of oil or fluid, sound deadening rolls, storage bags and wheel covers: $19.95
  • free once the parts in your order total $150 or more

So an order of six small clips is $5.95, and the same order with one case of oil added is $19.95, not $19.95 plus $5.95.

Mixed orders

If your order contains both tires or wheels and parts, you pay the higher of the two charges, never both. Adding a small part to a tire order costs you nothing extra.

That also means the parts free-shipping threshold does not make a mixed order free. Two tires and $150 of parts still carries the two-unit tire charge of $54.95: the parts side has gone to zero, the tire side has not, and you pay the higher of the two. To get a mixed order shipping free, reach 4 tires or wheels, or $500 after discount.

Your cart shows the cheapest route to free shipping while you shop, so you do not have to work this out yourself.

Orders may still arrive in more than one shipment. That never changes what you paid.

Oversized or remote-area shipments occasionally require an adjusted rate. If that applies to your order we will contact you before shipping anything, and you may cancel for a full refund.

Tax at checkout

The tax figure shown in the cart and on our checkout page is an estimate at a single default rate, there so you can see a realistic total before committing. The amount actually charged is computed by Stripe from the shipping address you enter on its payment page, at the federal and provincial rates that apply there. That figure, on the Stripe page and on your receipt, is the one that governs, and nothing is charged until you confirm it.

Dispatch and delivery times

In-stock items are dispatched within 1–2 business days of payment clearing.

Typical transit is 2 to 5 business days depending on destination, with remote and northern communities taking longer. Business days exclude weekends and statutory holidays.

All timeframes are estimates, not guarantees. Carrier delays, weather, strikes, customs and other events outside our control can extend them, and are not grounds for compensation beyond the remedies in our Terms of Service.

Following your order

We email you when your order is marked shipped, and again when it is marked delivered. Where we have a tracking number, it is in the shipped email, with a link straight to the carrier for Canada Post, Purolator, UPS, FedEx, DHL and GLS. For any other carrier you get the number itself and can enter it on that carrier’s site.

You can also check an order at any time on the Track Order page, using your order number and the email address you used at checkout. It shows the current stage and the tracking details once they exist.

Tracking details are entered by a person when the shipment is handed over rather than pulled from a carrier system, so a number appears once we have it, not the instant a label is created. If a shipment is marked shipped and you still have no number a day later, email us and we will chase it.

No in-store pickup

We are an online-only store and every order ships to you. The address on our policy pages (214 Toronto Ave, Oshawa, ON L1H 3C1) is a mailing address for correspondence. It is not a retail location, there is no counter, and we cannot accept walk-in visits, collections, or returns dropped off in person.

Returns must go through the process in our Returns & Refunds Policy so they are tracked and credited to the right order.

Where we ship

We ship across Canada, and our checkout also accepts shipping addresses in the United States.

Some products cannot be shipped to every destination because of size, hazardous-goods rules or supplier restrictions. If that affects your order we will contact you and refund it.

For any destination outside Canada, the recipient is the importer of record and is responsible for all duties, taxes, brokerage and customs charges, and for confirming that the product is legal to import and use locally. Those charges are collected by the carrier or customs authority on delivery and are not part of what you paid us.

Address accuracy

You are responsible for providing a complete, accurate and deliverable shipping address. We ship to the address entered at checkout and are not responsible for a delivery to an address entered incorrectly.

If a shipment is returned to us as undeliverable, refused, or unclaimed, we will refund the item value less the original and return shipping costs actually incurred. Re-shipping requires a new shipping charge.

Address changes are only possible before dispatch, and in-stock orders leave within 1–2 business days, so email contact@theautorack.com immediately if you need one.

Title and risk of loss

Title and risk of loss pass to you when the carrier delivers the shipment to the address you provided. Once delivery is confirmed by the carrier, responsibility for the goods rests with you.

Inspect your delivery

Inspect everything on arrival, before installation. If the packaging or the product is visibly damaged, note it with the carrier where you can, photograph it, and contact us within 48 hours of delivery.

Do not install a damaged or incorrect product. Installing it makes a claim significantly harder and generally ends return eligibility.

Lost, stolen or damaged shipments

Contact us at contact@theautorack.com with your order number and any photographs. We will open a claim with the carrier and, once it is resolved, replace the item or refund you.

Carrier claims take time and we appreciate your patience while they run their process. Where tracking shows the delivery was completed and the package was taken from the premises afterwards, the outcome of the carrier claim determines what we are able to do.

Partial shipments and backorders

Multi-item orders may ship in more than one parcel or from more than one supplier, sometimes arriving on different days. This never costs you extra.

If an item becomes unavailable after you order, we will contact you with the options: wait for it, substitute it, or refund that item.
